Athletes of the Meet
Each week, we will highlight Athletes of the Meet for the prior weeks meet(s). These athletes are selected by their respective event coaches for their performance at the meet. Athletes who had break out performances, big PRs, pulled off something big for the team score, great sportsmanship, etc. We want to take the time to highlight a couple of athletes who had spectacular performances at our dual meet against Otay Ranch and The Falcon Relays Invitational.
Otay Ranch Dual Meet
Hurdles -
Anastasia “Annie” Revak (11) after hitting a hurdle at practice Wednesday resulting in a pretty serious cut and trip to urgent care, she came back the next day to PR in the 100 hurdles, then doubled back in the 300 hurdles. She stormed out of the blocks but took an unfortunate tumble near the end of the race. She got back up and still managed to put together a strong finish. Very proud of her attitude and tenacity!
Long/Triple Jump -
Michael Yang (10) after a mistake in recording his jump (A new PR of 17’2) as a scratch, his response was “It’s ok coach, I’ll have many more chances to get a better mark than that”. A gracious way to handle an unfortunate situation!

Brice Abawi (12) opening up his season with a 22.38 in the 200.
Boys and Girls 4×4 teams with a great effort.

Our Next Meet
This week we have a home dual meet against San Marcos. This will be our first official League meet. In order to earn the team title of Palomar League Champions, we must win overall by points at each league meet or have the best score of all of the teams. The top 3 athletes in each event score points (1st - 5 points, 2nd-3 points, 3rd-1 point). It is crucial that athletes are giving their best effort in all events they are competing in and communicating with their coach if anything comes up. More info on this week’s dual meet here.
With this week being finals week, athletes with 4th period classes and finals will be released from class at 3:15pm. If they do not have a 4th period they are expected at the track at 2pm to help with meet day set up and ample time to warm up for the meet as normal. Athletes with 4th period classes that do not have finals, we ask that they communicate with their 4th period teacher if it is acceptable for them to leave at 2pm. School comes first as always!
On Saturday a limited team will compete at Mt Carmel’s Sundevil Invitational, more info here. Weekend invitationals are more competitive/higher level meets for our Varsity level athletes. We enter athletes and they must qualify/be accepted into the meet by the meet director. For this reason we bring a much more limited number of athletes to these meets.

House Keeping
We are asking for a $300 parent donation to help offset our team costs. As always Athlete's are not required to "pay to play", however, this $300 donation would help cover essential program costs. If you are able to donate you can do so in a variety of ways. See more info on our Donation Page

Donate your used spikes to a Bronco in need!
If your athlete has spikes (competition shoes) from last season that aren’t super torn up, they can use them again. If they are getting new spikes and don’t need their old ones, feel free to bring them to practice and we can share them with another Bronco in need! Once your athlete gets their spikes, have them show their coach before wearing them at practice. We can help navigate each athletes needs.
