Uniform Distribution Day!
UNIFORMS ARE DELAYED AND WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED 2/24/26
more info coming soon
Uniforms are sold to athletes at cost (we do not mark them up for a profit). They are yours to keep and take care of. All athletes are required to compete in our team issued uniform.
Prices TBA! (Coach Mandell has been working for months with various distributers to ensure the highest possible quality, consistent sizing and fairest price for our team…)
Once price is finalized it will be posted here and communicated to all.
Returners can continue wearing their uniform from previous seasons but their bottoms MUST RB ROYAL BLUE, not black, not white, not grey. Returners can purchase a new pair of competition bottoms if their previous pair is not the correct shade of RB blue. Varsity relays must match, relay coaches will be sure this is handled.
COST - All athletes who make the team will receive a uniform. If it is a financial burden for your family, please contact Coach Mandell at CoachRubyMandell@gmail.com and we will arrange the team to cover the cost of your uniform, no one will go without.
Payment can be made through Cash, Check, Square, Paypal or Venmo…more details TBA!
There will be multiple opportunities today to get your uniform:
11:45 AM-12:15 PM - During Lunchtime in Coach Daum’s classroom (Room N6)

Huge thank you to Nika Pasqual for her incredible help behind the scenes coordinating and time distributing uniforms for our Broncos! Be sure to thank her as you pick up your uniforms!
Spring Break
Practice is mandatory Mon-Fri of spring break. Practice times will likely be the same as normal, any shifts will be communicated well in advance per event group.
ADDITIONAL MANDATORY Parent Meeting
For those who missed/were not aware of my first parent meeting on Tuesday 1/27
At least one parent or guardian must attend this parent meeting or your athlete will not be allowed to compete in any meets.
If a parent/guardian attended my meeting on Tuesday 1/27, they are not required to attend this meeting but welcome to if available/interested. There will be new information and updates shared in addition to the overview you heard in January!
During this meeting we will go over team rules and expectations for the season, meet coaches, and get some questions answered. We will know the final roster and event group of all athletes at this point. Parents can purchase uniforms and learn about donation/volunteer opportunities this evening as well!
We understand how busy your schedules are and how many things you all balance as parents. Your time and effort getting to this meeting is incredibly appreciated, valued and does not go unnoticed!
Blue/White Try Out Meet
The Blue/White Tryout Meet is Mandatory (Unless you are currently in season for another Rancho Bernardo Winter Sport)
Athletes who are not cleared on home campus will not be allowed to practice or compete.
For more information on athletic clearance, visit the RBHS Athletics Page
If you are actively competing on a Rancho Bernardo winter sports team, come out once your season is over (this will not negatively effect your ability to be on our team). You can email Coach Mandell and returners also let your event coach know that you are intending to come out so they can plan accordingly!
Blue/White Athlete Entries as of Friday February 20th at 8pm
If you will be there Saturday to compete and do not see your name, make sure to let your coach know at practice BY THURSDAY 2/19 or email.
Field events (Long Jump) arrive at 8:00am Everyone else arrive at 9:00am to have ample time to check in and warm up ahead of your first event! Arrive in athletic shoes (spikes if you have them and are cleared by your coach), comfortable clothes for running (bonus if it’s RB Blue!) with a full water bottle and layers as the temperature can change quickly.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY SPIKES FOR BLUE/WHITE IF A COACH HAS NOT INSTRUCTED YOU TO DO SO. We don’t want athletes buying spikes for one event and then being placed in a new event for the season and needing another pair of spikes.
The first 2 weeks of practice athletes will have had the opportunity to try out and practice in various events to get the hang of learning them. The Blue/White Meet results will be a tool for our coaches to inform team roster decisions and find the events we feel you will be most successful and competitive in. This is in addition to us evaluating athletes in the first two weeks of practice!
*Tentative schedule* as follows:
9:00 am
Long Jump
Pole Vault (the vault group will use the day as another practice 9am-12pm)
10:00 am - Rolling start
1200 meters
100 meters
Triple Jump
300 meters
600 meters
*We will run the meet as quickly as possible while allowing athletes a reasonable amount of time between events*
Hurdles - Coach Mandell has evaluated most if not all athletes who have come out so far in the hurdles. The primary interest is speed, the technical hurdling will come from time with coach. All prospective hurdlers will compete in the 100 and 300 at Blue/White.
Throws/High Jump - we are exciting to bring on Coach Savannah (throws) and Coach Cole (high jump). They were hired just a couple of weeks ago, so they are in the process of getting their coaching clearance from the school district. Because of this, we won't be having throws high jump at Blue/White, instead Coaches Savannah and Cole will evaluate athletes the first week or two of the season. We are looking to grow both event groups! Athletes will have plenty of opportunities to try out both events.
We are excited for the season to begin!
If you have any questions or concerns, email our Head Coach, Coach Mandell at CoachRubyMandell@gmail.com
First Day of Official Practice
PRACTICE IS FROM 9AM-11AM…POLE VAULT (new and returners) WILL PRACTICE UNTIL 12PM!
The first day of practice is mandatory (Unless you are currently in season for another Rancho Bernardo Winter Sport)
If you/your parents emailed Coach Mandell with conflicts trust she has received them. We appreciate your patience as she gets back to you all!
Athletes who are not cleared on home campus will not be allowed to practice or compete.
For more information on athletic clearance, visit the RBHS Athletics Page
If you are actively competing on a Rancho Bernardo winter sports team, please come to the first day of practice if you can, just to get the information for the season. If you cannot attend this first practice, just come once your season is over (this will not negatively effect your ability to be on our team)
Arrive on time (or early) in athletic shoes, comfortable clothes for running with a full water bottle and layers as the temperature drops when the sun goes down.
The first 2 weeks athletes will have the opportunity to practice in various events to try and learn them. On February 21st we will have our Blue/White try out meet. Our coaches will use those results to evaluate the events we feel you will be most successful and competitive in.
We are excited for the season to begin!
