Don Jones Bronco Invite 2026!

Hello Bronco families and fans,

This past Saturday we hosted our annual Don Jones Bronco Invitational and it was a huge success. First and foremost, we would like to recognize all of the parents, families, friends and supporters who volunteered their time and resources to make this meet possible and allow us to have the success we did. It was incredible to see our Bronco Track & Field family out there and hope you all found some fun in the work. Our program exists because of your support and we cannot thank you all enough! Along with that, our athlete volunteers showed up and showed out, many staying longer than required and putting so much care into their roles allowing us coaches to run the meet and even coach a little too! Find the full meet results for Don Jones Bronco Invite here and some incredible meet day photos by Arturo Vargas, DCLensWork, London Davis Photography and Phil Grooms, with more to come!

Each week a new Bronco Breakdown will be posted here on our team website recapping the last weeks’ meets and upcoming information! Stay tuned and be sure to follow our team instagram @BroncosTF for more realtime updates! Also, join our team on Team Stack App click here.

Athletes of the Meet - Don Jones Bronco Invitational

Each week, we will highlight Athletes of the Meet for the prior weeks meet(s). These athletes are selected by their respective event coaches for their performance at the meet. Athletes who had break out performances, big PRs, pulled off something big for the team score, great sportsmanship, etc. We want to take the time to highlight a couple of athletes who had spectacular performances at our dual meet against Steele Canyon.

Long/Triple Jump -

  • Elijah Jewitt-Bosik (9) who opted to volunteer the entire meet and gave his full effort from start to finish, raking sand pits, running the wind gauge, setting up and cleaning up at the very end. His effort is above and beyond what was expected of anyone and made all the difference for a smooth meet day!

Pole Vault -

  • Lance Irman (11) with a new PR of 15-1 and jumped on 2 new poles he's never touched before. Currently tied for 13th in California.

  • Sonia Humer (10) got on the biggest pole she's ever vaulted on by utilizing a new technique that she has struggled with in the past and jumped her season best mark.

Distance -

  • Emily Lorenz (10) her first race of the season, back from injury, ran the lead leg in the 4x800 relay and gave us the lead!

  • Devin Cottom (12) breaking the 10 min barrier finally for the 3200m!

Sprints -

  • Girls 4x1 team changing handoff styles, competing great and winning their heat.

  • Boys 4x1 team 2 guys who’ve never done handoffs at varsity level practice 1 time day before meet and run a solid race.

Throws -

  • Cooper Laborde (12) with a big 10 foot PR in discus!

Our Next Meets

This week we have an AWAY dual meet against Otay Ranch High School. More info on this week’s dual meet here.

On Saturday March 21st, a limited team will compete at the Torrey Pines Falcon Relays more info here. Weekend invitationals are more competitive/higher level meets for our Varsity level athletes. We enter athletes and they must qualify/be accepted into the meet by the meet director. For this reason we bring a much more limited number of athletes to these meets.

Donate your used spikes to a Bronco in need!

  • If your athlete has spikes (competition shoes) from last season that aren’t super torn up, they can use them again. If they are getting new spikes and don’t need their old ones, feel free to bring them to practice and we can share them with another Bronco in need! Once your athlete gets their spikes, have them show their coach before wearing them at practice. We can help navigate each athletes needs.
